Latest Updated 25/10/2023: Now technicians working in Operation Theater (OT) will also be prepared in Ayurvedic Paramedical Colleges of Uttarakhand. In view of the increasing demand for Ayurvedic treatment, the Medical Council of India has decided to start it as a new course.


  • Indian Medical Council recommended the government to start new courses


The demand for Ayurvedic treatment is continuously increasing. Along with Panchakarma, treatments like Marma Chikitsa and Ksharsutra are becoming quite popular. Due to this, many times minor operations are required during Ayurvedic treatment. However, facilities like operation theater and anesthesia have not yet been developed in Ayurveda, due to which not only the patients but also the doctors are facing problems. In such a situation, it has now been decided to prepare OT technicians for Ayurveda also. In its first phase, the Indian Medical Council has recommended starting this course in Ayurvedic paramedical colleges. Indian Medical Council Registrar Narvada Gusai said that a proposal in this regard has been sent to the government, which is expected to be approved soon.

There are 25 Ayurvedic paramedical colleges in the state, the course will be of one year


The course may start next year. Indian Medical Council President Dr. JN Nautiyal said that at present there are 25 paramedical colleges of Ayurveda in the state. After the permission of the government, this course can be started in these colleges from next year. At present this course will be of one year duration and along with it new courses like dietitian, beautician etc. are also being started. With the promotion of Ayurveda, colleges are also increasing in Uttarakhand. The Medical Council is focusing on courses that provide maximum employment to the youth.
