Latest Updated 23/07/2024: The state government is bringing a strict law to curb paper leaks in the state's competitive examinations. The government will bring a bill in the assembly on Tuesday regarding this. It has been provided that those involved in paper leak or any activity related to it will be guilty under this law. They will be sentenced to 10 years & fined 1 crore rupees. All crimes under this law will be cognizable and non-bailable.

On Monday, copies of the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 were distributed among the MLAs in the assembly. The Government of India has made a law to prevent malpractice in the examination. Letters have also been sent to the states to pass it. It is clear in the bill that those involved in crimes under the law will be sentenced to a minimum of 3 years, which will be up to 5 years.

Candidates will be sentenced to 3 to 5 years If the candidate is found violating the rules, there is a provision of three to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh. If the service providers involved in the examination violate the law, then there is a provision of a fine of one crore for them. The cost of the examination will also be recovered from the service provider. He will be blacklisted for four years.


Strict punishment for organized crime

A provision for a fine of Rs 1 crore has also been made

If any person or group is in collusion with the service provider, then he will be sentenced to 5 to 10 years and fined Rs 1 crore. There is also a provision for confiscation of the property of the institution. If any officer is involved, then he can be jailed for 10 years and fined up to Rs 1 crore. Now the paper leak case will also be investigated by DSP rank officers.


Transparency objective


Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had already announced to bring the bill in the monsoon session. The bill aims to bring more transparency, fairness in the public examination system. To effectively and legally stop those individuals, organized groups or institutions who are involved in unfair means and adversely affect the public examination system.
