Latest Updated 22/07/2024: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that former Agniveers will be given priority in future recruitments in government departments of Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said this while talking to the media at a tree plantation program organized by MDDA in Doon on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said that he himself is a part of a military family. When the Agneepath scheme came, a meeting was held with military officials. During the same time it was said that if reservation provision has to be made for Agniveers, then a decision will be taken in the cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister said that for the secure future of Agniveers, the Uttarakhand government is going to make an action plan to accommodate them. This includes a proposal to give quota to Agniveer jawans who have completed four years in the army to get recruited in Uttarakhand Police and other government departments of the state. Apart from this, there is also a preparation to implement the Skill Training Scheme in the state. Through this, former Agniveers will be given employment related training in many areas. He directed the officials to prepare the proposal soon.
Many youths from Uttarakhand are recruited in the armyThe Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a soldier-dominated state. A large number of youths from here join the Indian Army. Therefore, after completing four years of service in the army, the government will take every possible step in the interest of former Agniveers. He said that the government wants that even after completing four years in the army, Agniveers should get ample employment opportunities in the state, so that they can participate in the development of the state. The Sainik Welfare Department has started preparing a proposal in this regard.
After returning from serving the country through the army, Agniveers will be accommodated with respect in various departments of Uttarakhand. If needed, our government will also bring a proposal for this in the upcoming assembly session.
