Latest Updated 11/05/2024: Grading of all government-private nursing colleges and nursing institutes of the state will be done in six months. Nursing colleges and institutions will be marked in four grades: A, B, C and D. All nursing institutions will be examined before grading.


The Health Department has given the responsibility of investigation for grading to the Quality Council of India (QCI). Within a week, the department will also provide the necessary amount to QCI for this. After receiving the amount, QCI will start investigation of nursing institutions from next month. The state unit of QCI will check the infrastructure including instructors, students, lab, library, toilets, buildings in nursing institutions. QCI will submit the investigation report to the health department. On the basis of this report, the committee formed for this in the Health Department will grade the nursing institutions. Nursing institutions will get grading on the parameters of Indian Nursing Council.

Under the new system, all nursing schools, nursing colleges and institutes of the state are being registered with Bihar Health Sciences University. Earlier their registration was done through Bihar Nursing Registration Council (BNRC). Recently the registration system has changed. Bihar Health Sciences University will conduct the examination of the students enrolled in the recognized government and private para medical and nursing colleges of the state for the session 2023 and thereafter.


The annual enrollment capacity in nursing institutions is 28 thousand. The number of government nursing institutions in the state is 121. The number of non-government nursing institutions is 504. ANM, GNM and B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing are taught here. There is an annual enrollment capacity of about 28 thousand in various courses in government and private nursing institutions.

This is how the investigation will be done


Officials of the state unit of Quality Council of India will visit nursing institutions with body cameras. On the basis of their cameras, officers at the headquarters will be able to watch live. Such arrangements are being made for transparency in the investigation. Photographs of the infrastructure in each institution will also be taken. The grading of nursing institutions will be visible on the portals of Bihar Health University and BNRC.


Students taking admission will be able to avoid fraud


Through grading, students enrolling in these institutions will be able to avoid fraud. Teams of officers will conduct frequent surprise inspections in institutions. By checking at regular intervals through the live monitoring app, the system of the institute including the lab will be fine.
