Latest Updated 01/03/2024: The Education Department has stopped the salaries of all the Vice-Chancellors of the state and all the Registrars except one and the Controller of Examinations of all but two universities. Action was taken against them for not attending the meeting called by the Education Department on 28 February.

A meeting was called by the department under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary KK Pathak on 28 February to review the pending examinations in the university. Only the controller of examinations of Magadh University and the registrar and controller of examinations of KSDS Darbhanga University had attended. Except these three officials, the salaries of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Controller of Examinations of all other universities have been stopped.

Department Secretary Baidyanath Yadav has said in a letter issued to Vice-Chancellors, Registrars and Controllers of Examinations on Thursday that being absent in an important meeting is a serious matter. In the review conducted in July 2023, it was found that the session is behind by three-four years in most of the universities. After this, notification was issued regarding the conduct of examinations under Section 30 of the University Act.
KK Pathak will go on central deputation, government agreed
Additional Chief Secretary of Education Department KK Pathak will go on central deputation. The state government approved Mr. Pathak's application. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave his consent to this on Thursday evening.
It is believed that soon Shri Pathak will go on central deputation and the government will appoint a new head in the department. Shri Pathak took charge of the Education Department in June 2023.
