Gift of 955 houses to UK Uttarakhand latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 04/12/2023: The Central Government has gifted 955 affordable houses to Uttarakhand under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban). Under the scheme, beneficiaries will get Rs 2 lakh each to build a house. The central government has approved the budget for this.
Under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban), the Central Government also provides assistance in constructing houses to the homeless people who have legally owned land in a beneficiary based scheme. The urban body selects the beneficiaries through a survey. For constructing a house of minimum 30 square meters, assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh from the Central Government and Rs 50 thousand from the State Government is provided in three phases. Under this scheme, after a long time, the Central Government has approved financial assistance for 955 beneficiaries for Uttarakhand.
The Urban Development Directorate is going to prepare to release the first installment of assistance soon. Most of the settlements on this list come from newly formed or relatively small entities. Under the scheme, the beneficiaries have to construct the house themselves under the supervision of the civic bodies.
