Breaking News: Concept of special state rejected in UPA government
Latest Updated 06/12/2023: Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi said that why did Manmohan Singh's government not give special status to Bihar from 2004 to 2014? When Lalu Prasad had so much power at the Center that he could wake up the President in the middle of the night and impose President's rule in Bihar. Then why did they not provide special status?

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday on the economic condition of the country, fast growth rate and the demand for special state of Bihar, he said that when the 14th and 15th Finance Commission has invalidated the concept of special state. Then sending the proposal passed by the cabinet of Bihar government on this issue to the central government is a political stunt.
He said that the special economic package of Rs 1.40 lakh crore given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bihar is many times more help than the special status. But RJD-JDU do not want to accept this. With the special central package, 2.5 crore people of the state came above the poverty line.
