Breaking News: 35 new child shelter homes will be built in UP
Latest Updated 06/11/2023: Construction of 35 new shelter homes in 19 districts including 18 divisional headquarters of the state by the Women & Child Development Department for the care of children who have run away from home, are missing, are trafficked, are working, are child beggars & are drug addicts. In fact, the condition of most of the child shelter buildings operated in rented and government buildings is not satisfactory. In view of the dilapidated buildings, cramped rooms and lack of basic infrastructure relative to capacity, the government is going to build new shelters. There will be open air rooms, open grounds for yoga, exercise, sports, gardening and there will also be facilities for child care home, observation home, justice board, superintendent and warden's residence. The Women and Child Development Department is proposing to construct 12 children's homes for girls, one children's home for boys, six children's homes for infants and specialist adoption units, 11 observation homes for adolescents and five integrated homes. Yogi government will run at least one home in all the mandals of the state.
Currently 7 thousand children are being looked after
Recently, a detailed presentation in this regard was given to the Chief Minister by the Women and Child Development Department. It has been told that the capacity of children's homes, especially girls' homes, in the state is 300 girls, whereas in comparison, generally 485 girls are staying in them. With the exception of, the current capacity of observation homes is 1250 children, here too more children are living than the capacity. As a result, adverse effects have been seen in children's education, medical treatment, skill development, life skills and mental, physical and emotional development. It is very important to build the new houses for them.
