Doiwala Municipality of Uttarakhand will be included in A Category latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 18/09/2023: As a reward for better financial management and excellent performance on the sanitation survey front, Muni Ki Reti and Doiwala Municipality may be upgraded to A category.
Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats in the state are divided into A, B and C categories. For this, population, finance management and civil services are made the main parameters. The structure of employees in the bodies is prepared according to the categories and the annual budget is also approved by the State Finance Commission accordingly.

There are currently six A category municipalities in the state, now Muni Ki Reti and Doiwala can also be included in it. Both these municipalities have crossed Rs 1 crore in their own income in the last financial year. Besides, their performance has also been better in cleanliness survey. For this reason, the Urban Development Department is going to include both the municipalities in A category, giving special relaxation in the standards for this. After this, the posts of Assistant Engineer, Tax and Revenue Inspector, Chief Sanitation Inspector, Accountant can be approved in the municipalities. Minister Premchand Aggarwal's approval has been received on the proposal of Muni Ki Reti. Now the department has made a proposal to change the category of Doiwala also. Besides, the department is also considering giving the right to issue bonds to municipal bodies with better financial condition.
