Latest Updated 17/08/2023: The SIT on Wednesday arrested Vivek Kumar, the manager (owner) of Jagdish Prasad Verma Inter College (JP Verma Inter College), Hardoi's nodal officer Yashwant Kanojia and Abhinav Kanojia, brother of Poonam Verma, manager of RP Inter College, in the scholarship scam. . All three were called by the SIT on Wednesday. The arrest was made after two hours of questioning.
65 crore scam has been confirmed so far
Earlier, the SIT had interrogated these accused three times at different times. The SIT handed over all three to the Hazratganj police. The police presented them in the court from where they were sent to jail. Six people have now gone to jail in the scam. Acting Inspector Pramod Kumar of Hazratganj police station said that the scam of 65 crores has been confirmed.
The nodal officer gave the ID of his college. SIT investigation revealed that Yashwant Kanaujia, resident of Pragati Vihar, Dubagga, nodal officer of JP Verma Inter College, opened bank accounts in association with Ravi Prakash Gupta, an employee of Hyjia Group arrested by ED. It was he who had given the login ID and password of his college to Ravi. He could not even answer many questions to the SIT on Wednesday. Vivek, a resident of Kasimpur, Gausganj, Hardoi, manager of the same JP Verma College, is accused of this scam with fake documents.
Grabbed scholarship amount in the name of disabled students
SIT investigation found evidence that 30 students of general quota and 34 students of Divyang quota were shown fake admissions and scholarship was grabbed. Many accounts were of minors and elders in which scholarship amount went. There were many account holders who were not aware that their account had been opened.
