Latest Updated 20/05/2023: The appointment of 1.75 lakh teachers in the state has been challenged in the Patna High Court. Advocate Ritika Rani has filed a writ petition on behalf of Prabhakar Ranjan & 20 other petitioners. He informed that the validity of the Bihar State School Teacher (Recruitment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action & Service Conditions) Rules, 2023 has been challenged.

New rules have been brought in the state without removing the provisions of appointment under School Teacher Rules 2006, Rules 2008, Rules 2012 and Rules 2020.

According to advocate Ritika Rani, according to the earlier provisions, the Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad and Municipality had the right to appoint school teachers. Without removing these provisions, under the rules-2023, the state government is going to reinstate 2.5 lakh school teachers in the state. According to the new rules, the Bihar Public Service Commission has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting examinations for the appointment of 2.5 lakh teachers and recommending appointments on the basis of their results. In the application, the qualifications and work of the teachers appointed under the Rules 2006 are the same, but according to the rules of 2023, the salaries of the teachers who will be reinstated will be different.
