Latest Updated 16/05/2023: All doctors in the country will now have to register with the State Medical Councils as well as the National Medical Commission (NMC). Doctors will get a Unique Identification Number (UID) to practice in the country.


According to the notification, the data will be updated in National Medical Register. It will be available to common people. It will be displayed on the website of NMC. The website will have details of name, date and number of registration, place of work, additional medical qualification, specialty etc. of the doctor. It states that any person who has obtained a recognized primary medical qualification under the National Medical Commission Act 2019 and has passed the national examination conducted under section 15 of the Act shall be eligible for registration.

The government warned that action will be taken if it is not done.
