Application will be submitted to SDO in hit and run case in Patna Bihar latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 19/05/2023: In case of hit and run case (unknown vehicle accident), the victim's family will have to submit an application to the SDO (Sub-Divisional Officer) for the fixed compensation. After checking the application from the level of SDO, the recommendation will be sent to the District Magistrate for approval. After getting the approval of the District Magistrate, the process of payment of the amount will proceed. In this regard, the Transport Department has issued guidelines to all the districts.
Officials of the department say that in such road accidents, in which there is no information about the responsible vehicle, there is a provision to give Rs 2 lakh to the relatives of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Officials say that tribunals are being set up in the districts for payment of compensation in cases of accidents in which the vehicle is identified. Compensation is paid by the insurance company on the orders of the tribunal. However, in view of the fact that there should be no problem in paying the amount in hit and run cases, a new provision has been made.
It may be mentioned that earlier compensation of 25,000 Rupees was given
After getting the approval of the compensation at the level of the District Magistrate, its proposal is sent to the General Insurance Council of India, whose headquarter is in Mumbai. There is a provision to pay the amount in the account of the person concerned by the Council in 15 days. It may be noted that earlier under the Solusium scheme, there was a provision of giving Rs 25,000 to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 12,500 to the injured in hit and run cases.
