Latest Updated 21/05/2023: After the announcement of Rs 2,000 note not being in circulation, customers thronged various bank branches on Saturday to deposit the note. According to banking sources, about Rs 2,000 to Rs 65 crore were deposited in banks during the day. There are about 6500 public and private sector banks operating in the state.


It was told that the process of exchanging the notes is to begin from 23 May. That's why no customer turned up to exchange a large number of Rs 2,000 notes. According to official sources of the Reserve Bank's regional office, the current status of Rs 2,000 notes in Bihar and Jharkhand will be assessed on Monday. Feedback will be taken in this regard after meeting with all the bank heads.

According to banking sources, due to non-availability of Rs 2,000 notes in general circulation for a long time, it is available with only about two per cent of the people.
