Latest Updated 06/02/2023: The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission has reached the Supreme Court seeking a re-hearing of the Forest Guard recruitment copying case. In this case, the cases of copying have been dismissed by the subordinate court on the basis of compromise. Nine applicants, who have been accused of cheating in the past, are keeping pressure on the commission for appointment.
In 2018, the Commission had conducted the written examination for 1268 posts of Forest Guard. There were allegations of copying in this. In the case filed earlier in this case, since the government did not become a party, then the case was ended due to the settlement between the accused and the litigants. Then 47 candidates were accused of cheating, out of which nine managed to make it to the final selection list. Although the Commission did not give him the appointment, but at present no investigation or case is pending against him, the basis of his appointment has been strengthened.
Meanwhile, after the new team took charge in the commission, the stand of the commission has become tough in this episode. Commission Chairman GS Mertolia said that the Commission had filed a review petition in the High Court in January in the matter, which has not been successful. For this reason, the commission is now going to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. In this case, 11 separate cases were registered. The commission is lobbying to see it primarily as a criminal trial.
