Latest Updated 19/07/2024: In the NEET paper leak case, the CBI has arrested four students of AIIMS Patna and taken them on four-day remand. The investigating agency is interrogating them. Among the arrested students, Chandan Singh, Rahul Anand and Kumar Shanu are third year (2021 batch) students of MBBS, while Karan Jain is a second year student of 2022 batch.


The CBI has also arrested a middleman named Surendra Kumar. All these arrested MBBS students have played a role in solving the leaked question paper of NEET. After taking them into custody late on Wednesday night, the CBI interrogated them and arrested them on Thursday. They were produced in the Special Court in Patna. The court allowed the four students and the middleman to be taken on four-day remand for questioning. The CBI team reached the AIIMS hostel in Phulwari late on Wednesday night. Three students of the 2021 batch were detained from Hostel No. 9 in the presence of the Special Officer of the Director of the Institute, the Dean and the Warden of the hostel. After this, another student of 2022 batch, Kumar Shanu, was called by the CBI officer. This student surrendered before the investigation team. He was questioned throughout the day on Thursday.

According to sources, inputs were received about them from the previously arrested accused of the NEET paper leak gang. The investigating agency is trying to find out from them that to which places and to which people the NEET question paper was sent to solve. Who provided them the question paper? How much amount was paid in exchange for solving the question paper? The laptops, mobiles and bank accounts of the students are also being investigated. Kumar Shanu is a resident of Athmalgola (Patna), Rahul Anand Khusrupur, Chandan Singh Siwan and Karan Jain is a resident of Araria. 


CBI detains student involved in solver gang


The heat of CBI's investigation in NEET paper leak case has reached RIMS. In the case related to paper leak, a RIMS student involved in the solver gang has been detained by the CBI on Thursday. In connection with the investigation, the CBI team reached RIMS late Wednesday night at around 1.30 am. Going to the girls hostel of RIMS, the team took the said student of MBBS first year (2023 batch) with them. Along with the student, Dean Dr. Shivpriya was also taken. The CBI team questioned the student till morning. Also took necessary information from the Dean. After that, the CBI called Dr. Shiv Priya to the office on Thursday and questioned her. Whereas, the team took the student into custody on Thursday evening. After taking her into custody, she was taken to Sadar Hospital, where after medical, she will be questioned in detail. It is being told that the said student is from Ranchi itself. The CBI has received information that she was involved in the solver gang in the NEET paper leak. According to sources, the investigating agency has received information about the involvement of some other students of RIMS in the gang along with the said student. It is said that during the interrogation by CBI, the student has accepted being involved in the solver gang. She has also given information to the team about the temptations given by the gang. Along with the gadgets of the student, the CBI also took the attendance register and other necessary documents from the hostel. On the basis of which the attendance of the student etc. will be investigated.


Action will be taken against the students


This incident on Thursday has adversely affected the morale of other students as well as the image of this institute. We have called a meeting of the academic and administrative committees to take appropriate action against the arrested students. The decision regarding action against the four students will be taken on Friday.
