Order on the petition of third phase guest teachers
Latest Updated 30/05/2024: The Patna High Court has ordered the state government to take a final decision on giving preference to guest teachers like contract teachers within a month. The court has asked the government to take a decision soon on giving 5 marks and maximum 25 marks to guest teachers for each year of employment. Also, the court has put a stay on the advertisement number 22/2024 released on 7 February for the teacher recruitment to be held in the third phase. In the third phase, 87,784 posts are to be reinstated.

A single bench of Justice Anjani Kumar Sharan gave the decision after hearing 10 other applications including Sandeep Kumar Jha. Applicants' advocates Nityanand Mishra and Alok Abhinav told the court that the Education Department had issued an advertisement for the reinstatement of guest teachers. The applicants got reinstated as guest teachers and started performing their duties. Not only this, they were deployed in examination centers and evaluation work including Lok Sabha, Assembly, Panchayat elections. Many guest teachers were sent to Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand as presiding officers, polling officers. It was said that guest teachers would be given preference in future teacher recruitment.

Contract teacher and guest teacher both are same. Contract teacher and guest teacher both are performing similar duties. Both are teaching students in schools as teachers. There is no difference between them. In such a situation guest teachers should be entitled to 5 marks for each year of employment and a maximum of 25 marks like contract teachers get. At the same time, the state government told that the guest teachers were reinstated on a temporary basis. They were reinstated on a salary of one thousand rupees per working day and a maximum of 25 thousand rupees per month.
The exam was cancelled after the paper leak
The written exam for the third phase of teacher recruitment was held on March 5. After the paper leak, BPSC cancelled the exam. A new date for the exam has not been fixed yet. After this order of the court, there may be further delay in it.
