Latest Updated 18/05/2024: Following the notification issued by the University Grants Commission, Delhi University has announced changes in its PhD admission process. DU has also issued a notification in this regard.


DU said that admissions to PhD will be based on the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores. The notification issued by the admission branch of DU states that the university can conduct separate examinations for those subjects for which UGC NET is not conducted and those courses are conducted in the university. Information Bulletin for PhD will be uploaded on the University website (www.admission.uod.ac.in).

DU has approved the UGC admission rules from this session. As per the instructions, students doing JRF will be able to apply directly for PhD admission and will also be eligible to apply for Assistant Professorship. Admission to PhD of students who have done JRF will be 100 percent based on interview. Candidates who have cleared NET will be given 70 weightage to NET score and 30 weightage to Interview for PhD admission and appointment as Assistant Professor. Holidays reduced due to examination and evaluation


Delhi University has made changes in its academic calendar. DU has reduced the duration of summer vacation. Earlier this date was from June 7 to July 21, which has been reduced to June 14 to July 21. Many teachers are criticizing this decision of the university. However, DU Registrar Vikas Gupta says that this change has been made in the interest of the students. During this period, there are examinations and evaluation of copies also has to be done, hence this change has been made.
