Latest Updated 28/05/2024: After engineering, now a scheme has been started to increase the participation of daughters in the field of management and computer applications also. To increase the number of daughters in technical colleges, a special scholarship scheme is being started from the academic session 2024.
Meritorious girl students from economically weaker section of BBA, BCA and BMS programs will be promoted through scholarship. About Rs 7.5 crore will be spent annually on this scheme. That is why from the upcoming academic session 2024-25, girl students of BBA, BCA and BMS will get this new scholarship. In this, more than 3000 meritorious girl students from economically weaker section will be given Rs 25 thousand annually as scholarship. Due to additional seats and scholarships in engineering, the number of daughters has increased significantly. For this reason, now there will be emphasis on increasing the participation of daughters in the field of management and computer applications.
Till now, scholarship is given under Pragati Yojana to increase the number of daughters in engineering field. In this, an annual scholarship of Rs 50 thousand is given.
Participation of daughters has increased in engineering
Due to various schemes in the field of engineering, the number of daughters is continuously improving. In the year 2019, the number of daughters was 29 percent. This figure reached 30 percent in 2020 and 36 percent in 2021. The number of daughters has been continuously increasing in the last two years. In the year 2022, it has reached 29 percent in engineering diploma and 40 percent in engineering UG engineering programs.
Only students of recognized institutions will get benefits
For the first time, AICTE is giving approval to teach BBA, BCA and BMS programs from the upcoming session. Till now, approval to teach these three programs was received from the University Grants Commission (UGC). That is why girl students from AICTE affiliated colleges will get the benefit of this scholarship.
