Bihar is third and Jharkhand is fourth in applying for joint university entrance examination
Latest Updated 15/04/2024: The interest of students of Bihar for the admission in the central universities has increased. About one lakh students from Bihar have applied. This application is in different subjects.
According to the data received from the National Testing Agency (NTA), students of Bihar are in third place in applying for the Combined University Entrance Examination Under Graduate (CUET UG) 2024. Jharkhand is at number four. 99,061 applications have been received from Bihar and 90,661 applications have been received from Jharkhand. In terms of applications, Uttar Pradesh is at first place while Delhi is at second place. However, this time the number of applications in CUET UG has decreased compared to last year.

13.50 lakh students have applied for the joint entrance examination to be held between 15 and 31 May for the admission in undergraduate level courses for the session 2024-25, which is 10 percent less than last year (15 lakh). This time students were allowed to choose six papers instead of 10. This is why this decrease has occurred. However, the no. of students for each paper has increased. What is also interesting is that the year is different, the students are different, but the trend of choosing subjects has been the same for three years.
Delhi University first choice
This time too, maximum of more than 10 lakh applications have been received for the English subject, whereas for the general test paper, there are more than 8.34 lakh applications. At the same time, 7.01 lakh students have chosen Chemistry at third place and 6.72 lakh students have chosen Physics at fourth place. Delhi University is the most popular university in the country for UG courses.
It is known that this time DU has received more than 25 lakh applications for different courses. BHU is at second place with 8.41 lakh applications. This time the CUT UG exam will be held in hybrid format. For the subjects for which more than 1.5 lakh applications have been received, the examination will be held in offline pen-paper mode.
The exam will be on OMR sheet
Like NEET, this exam will be conducted on OMR sheet, whereas the exam of other subjects with lesser application will be conducted online. This time CUT score can be used for admission in all central universities including 262 universities. Last year the number of universities accepting it was 249. The 1st year there were only 90.
