Latest Updated 15/03/2024: Before the Lok Sabha elections, the government has announced four percent dearness allowance (DA) for employees, teachers and pensioners. With this, the salary of employees and officers will increase by a minimum of Rs 750 to Rs 8000 thousand.


There are more than 03 lakh teachers and employees in the state

After the approval of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar has given these orders. Central and UP governments have already given this benefit to their employees. Since then the employee organizations of Uttarakhand were putting pressure. Actually, the code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections is expected to be implemented soon. In such a situation, the employees feared that if the DA's order was not made before the code, then they might have to wait for it.

Now the government on Thursday has ordered payment of four percent DA from January to July 2024. The arrears of DA for January-February will be paid in cash while from March onwards, it will be paid with regular salary. The benefit of this will be available to the state employees falling under the scope of seventh pay scale, aided educational and technical educational institutions, regular full-time, work charged, post holders of urban local bodies, working in UGC pay scales and pensioners. Various employee organizations expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the DA's order.


DA's latest order will not apply to them


The government has clarified that the latest order will not automatically apply to High Court judges, Chairman and members of the Public Service Commission, civil and family pensioners of local bodies and public undertakings etc. The concerned departments will issue separate orders in this regard. The government also clarified that no authorization letter from the Accountant General will be required for payment of additional relief etc. to pensioners.
