Paving the way for grants to 308 inter colleges of Bihar latest news update 2024
Latest Updated 17/02/2024: 308 inter colleges of the state have been found to be as per the standards. The way has been cleared for giving pending grants from the state government to such colleges. The grants of these colleges are outstanding since 2016.

According to the information received from the Education Department, there are 599 funded inter colleges in the state. Of these, 488 colleges were inspected by the Bihar School Examination Committee, out of which only 308 were found to be as per the set standards. Department officials say that all these have been investigated only for the release of grants. At the same time, those colleges which have not been found to be as per the standards, have been instructed to bring necessary improvements. It is known that the grant amount is given to funded inter colleges on the basis of the number of students passed.
According to the information received from the department, the amount for the academic session 2014-16 has been sent to about 300 inter colleges this year. At the same time, due to unavoidable reasons the grant amount for seven years is pending. Departmental officials say that the process of investigation of colleges has been completed. Now, it is expected that the exercise to release the outstanding grants after the year 2016 can be started.
