Live News Update: 464 applications received for battery operated tricycle in Patna Bihar
Latest Updated 29/02/2024: On behalf of Divyangjan Empowerment Cell, Social Welfare Department, camps for free battery operated tricycles were organized in 23 blocks of the district. The camp was organized between 8 to 12 February. In this, 464 applications were received from different blocks.
Camps were organized in Patna Sadar, Danapur, Mokama, Sampatchak and other blocks. Maximum 48 applications came from Mokama block. Battery powered tricycle scheme launched in 2023. Earlier, hand-operated tricycles were given to disabled people. To overcome disability as a hindrance in education and employment, the initiative of battery operated tricycle was started. The process of execution of the application has started from the department. Cycles will be made available soon. A screening committee has been formed to select the beneficiary.

The members of the screening committee constituted under the chairmanship of DM will select the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will be selected on several grounds. Beneficiaries whose age will be above 18 years, mobile disability will be more than 60 percent and the beneficiary must travel a distance of more than three kilometers from his home for education and employment, will be a resident of Bihar and the annual income will be less than Rs 2 lakh. They will be provided tricycles.
