Latest Updated 27/10/2023: Railway Ministry has released orders to increase dearness allowance after six and a half years. Six lakh contract employees working in Indian Railways and its various public sector companies will benefit from this. This will come into effect from 1 October 2023.

After this increase, an unskilled worker will get a minimum wage of Rs 14,400 per month. At the same time, the monthly earning of a highly skilled worker will be Rs 18,870. A senior Railway Board official said that as of July 22, 2022, more than 5,87,968 contractual employees are registered in Indian Railways. The number of sanctioned posts in Railways is twelve and a half lakh. Contract employees are given PF and other facilities as per the permanent employees of Railways.
