Latest Updated 01/10/2023: The process of reinstatement on 1275 posts of Inspector (Sub Inspector) in Bihar Police has started. On Saturday, Bihar Police Under Service Commission released the vacancy for reinstatement on these posts.

According to the Commission, applications for these posts will be taken from October 5 to November 5. It is mandatory to pass graduation or its equivalent for application. Candidates will be selected from the examination to be held in three phases. There will be written examination in two phases (preliminary and main examination) while in one phase there will be physical efficiency test. Of the vacant posts, 441 are unreserved while 275 are reserved for SC, 16 for ST, 238 for extremely backward class, 107 for backward class, 82 for backward class women, 111 posts for EWS and five posts for transgender. Women will be provided the benefit of 35 percent horizontal reservation in each category.

The preliminary and main examination will be of 500 marks. According to the Commission, the preliminary and main examination will be of 500 marks. In the preliminary examination, it is mandatory to solve 100 questions of 200 marks in two hours. Those who get less than 30 percent marks in this will be declared failed. At the same time, in the main examination, first paper and second paper will be of 200-200 marks, in which there will be 100-100 questions. The time limit for all examinations has been fixed at two hours.


The first paper of the main examination will be of Hindi and it is mandatory to get 30 percent marks in it, whereas in the second paper, questions from General Studies will be asked. During this, 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in both the stages. Only the candidates who are successful in both the written examinations will be able to appear in the third phase physical efficiency test. According to the Commission, it is mandatory for the candidates to have a minimum age of 20 years by September 1, 2023.


The maximum age of general category men will be 37 years and that of women will be 40 years. The maximum age for men and women belonging to backward classes and extremely backward classes has been fixed at 40 years and for men and women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and third gender candidates, the maximum age has been fixed at 42 years. The maximum height of a male of general category has been fixed at 165 cm and of reserved category at 160 cm, while the height of a female has been fixed at 155 cm. Applications will be considered only if these qualifications are met.
