Court seeks information on irregularities in first and second civil services examination
Latest Updated 15/09/2023: The High Court has sought a response from the government on sanctioning prosecution against the accused in the irregularities in the first and second civil services examination of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). While hearing the PIL of Buddhadev Oraon, the court has asked the state government to tell how many accused have been sanctioned for prosecution so far and how many applications are pending.
Court asked for detailed answer till 5 October
The court of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen has directed the government to file a detailed reply till 5 October.
Report was also sought from CBI. During the last hearing in this case, the court had directed CBI to file a status report. Let us tell you that earlier the investigation of irregularities in the first and second JPSC Civil Services Examination was being done by the Monitoring Bureau, later on the orders of the High Court, its investigation was handed over to the CBI. Due to non-receipt of order sanctioning the prosecution of many accused, the case is not being heard completely.

CBI investigation into 11 JPSC exams
CBI investigation of 11 JPSC examinations is going on. These also include allegations like tampering with copies, irregularities in list preparation and giving jobs to one's favourites. In the investigation of some examinations, CBI has also found the allegations to be true and has taken action against the then Chairman, Secretary and members.
Government had ordered ACB investigation in 2011
The government had ordered an ACB inquiry in 2011 after allegations of irregularities in the JPSC First and Second Civil Services Examination. After investigation, the ACB had found irregularities in the selection of 15 successful candidates and recommended canceling their appointments. The government canceled the appointments of all following the recommendation of the ACB. The successful candidates had filed a petition in the single bench against the order of cancellation of appointment. The single bench canceled the government's order canceling the appointment. The government has filed an appeal in the division bench against the order of the single bench.
