Coal Ministry Jharkhand said Coal India took approval on wage settlement by giving wrong information latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 20/09/2023: The Coal Ministry has sent a letter to the Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) on Tuesday. It is clearly stated that Coal India has obtained the approval of the Coal Ministry on Coal Wage Agreement-11 by giving wrong information.
Trade unions are surprised by the ministry's letter. A senior union leader said that the ministry's stance suggests that the Coal Wage Agreement-11 may get stuck. However, the letter has not been officially confirmed by the Ministry. A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Chairman of Coal India and Director Personnel along with the Director of DPE. This office memorandum issued by Arvind Kumar, Under Secretary of the Coal Ministry, is in the context of the decision of the Jabalpur High Court to cancel the Coal Wage Agreement-11. Jabalpur High Court, while hearing a petition filed by coal officials, has canceled the approval given by the Coal Ministry for implementing Coal Wage Agreement-11. In this matter, the court has asked DPE to take a decision within 60 days.
In the petition, the officials have alleged violation of DPE guidelines in the salary agreement and said that due to Coal Wage Agreement-11, the salary of some employees has become more than the salary of E-1 grade officers. Coal Wage Agreement-11 may get a blow due to the office memorandum of the Coal Ministry. Considering the stance of the Coal Ministry, if DPE takes a similar decision, the whole matter will get stuck. It is known that Coal India management has already gone in appeal on the said matter in Jabalpur High Court.
Union strike decided
In view of the ongoing dispute regarding Coal Wage Agreement-11, the five Central Trade Unions of Coal India have already warned Coal India of a three-day strike. Notice has also been given to Coal India regarding the strike from September 5 to 7. If the salary payment for the month of September is cut in the month of October then a strike is certain from 5th.
Big blow to the agreement
1. Coal Ministry sent a letter to the Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises.
2. The Coal Ministry also sent a copy of the letter to the Chairman and Director Personnel of Coal India.
3. The 11th Coal Wage Agreement has suffered a major setback due to the letter from the Coal Ministry.
