Latest Updated 24/08/2023: From the academic session 2023-24 in schools, students of fifth and eighth grade will not be promoted if they fail in the annual examination. This rule will also apply to the students of Economic Backward Classes (EWS) studying in private schools. In this regard, the private school branch of the Directorate of Education has issued a circular.

Students will be considered in the category of necessary repetition. According to the circular, there will be regular examination of the students of class V and VIII in the academic session. If the student fails, he will get the opportunity to re-appear in the exam within two months. If he does not pass in that also, then the student will be put in the category of necessary repetition. In the next session the student will study in the same class. All the private schools have been instructed to the inform parents about this.

Committee formed for EWS students

If the parents of economically backward class/disadvantaged class and children with special needs have any complaint regarding the examination, then they can contact the concerned district for the same. A complaints committee was also constituted in this regard. Its Regional Deputy Director of Education will be the chairman and three members. The committee will settle the complaints of the parents.

Admission will be done from private to government school

If the committee, during the course of investigation, finds that the student has been deliberately failed, instructions will be issued to the school in this regard. Apart from this, the student will also be given the opportunity to re-appear / re-examine. If still the students fail then it will be put in the category of necessary repetition. In such a situation, the Deputy Director of Education of the concerned district will ensure the admission of such children in government schools under the Right to Education Act.
