Latest Updated 11/08/2023: All medical colleges of the country also Bihar will be evaluated like as NAAC. After this the ranking of the medical colleges will be decided. They will be evaluated on the basis of facilities available in medical college. In this regard, draft guidelines & guidelines for accreditation and ranking of medical colleges have been released by the National Medical Commission & the Quality Council of India.

- According to the Union Ministry of Health, there are 704 medical colleges in the country.
NMC has just tied up with Quality Council of India (QCI). Under this, the authority of good quality in medical colleges has been entrusted to QCI. Now, QCI has tied up with Medical Evaluation & Rating Board (MERB). Through this agreement, work will be complete to improve the quality of education in medical colleges. 11 criteria have been prepared in new draft. It is divided into 92 parts. On the basis of this, ranking will be provide to the medical college. In this, 7% of curriculum, 16% of practical & hands-on and clinical experience, 10% of educational environment, physical, psychological and occupational, 13% of student admission, 16% of human resource and teaching learning process, 2% of assessment policy, research output. There will be 10 marks for community outreach program, 5 marks for quality assurance system, 8 marks for feedback & stakeholders.
Under new rule, colleges will work among themselves on the best practices, innovative teaching methods, research. This information will also be shared with the other medical colleges. If any college tries to mislead with the wrong documents, then their truth can be known through a system equipped with artificial intelligence, the consequences of which will have to be borne by concerned medical college later.

Every college will have to adopt families
As per new draft, each of medical colleges will have to adopt nearby families through their students. Will have to serve these families for 3 years. During this period, treatment for diseases ranging from anemia to kidney, heart & TB will have to be done free of cost. Apart from medical education & health sservices, rural health has also been connected in draft QCI.
