Breaking News: ATS arrested suspected terrorist Muhammad Tariq Athar in UP
Latest Updated 07/07/2023: UP ATS has arrested Muhammad Tariq Athar, a suspected terrorist influenced by ISIS ideology. Athar is a resident of Gorakhpur. On the input of Gujarat ATS, he was called to Lucknow for questioning, where he was arrested on Thursday.

Had taken the oath of ISIS Athar is a resident of Khoonipur locality located in Ward No. 70 of Kotwali area of Gorakhpur. Information was received about him from the Gujarat ATS that he was connecting the youth with Jihadi ideology by being active on various social media platforms. After developing this input through physical and electronic surveillance, Athar was called to ATS Headquarters Lucknow for questioning after giving notice as per rules. During interrogation, he told that he is influenced by ISIS terrorists and their guns.
He also watches videos of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, influenced by which he wants to become a Mujahid and do Jihad in India and implement Sharia law. He has also taken the oath of ISIS.
