Breaking News: Now, there will be five kidney transplants every week in PGI Hospital Lucknow
Latest Updated 26/07/2023: Soon five to six patients will undergo kidney transplant every week in the modern kidney transplant center of PGI. For this, dialysis stations along with the capacity of beds in general wards and ICUs have been increased. From operation theater to other preparations have been completed. This will end waiting and provide relief to 350 patients waiting for kidney transplant.
Dr. Narayan Prasad, head of the nephrology department of PGI, says that the cost of kidney transplant in the institute is half as compared to private institutes. Due to this, patients from other states including UP come here. That's why there is a waiting period of six to nine months. Right now only two to three transplants are being done in a week, but soon five to six transplants will be done. Patients with venting will get relief from at least one implant daily. Dr. Narayan told that the general ward in the new center has been increased from 60 to 75 beds. Eight to 10 beds have been made in the ICU.
