Latest Updated 07/07/2023: The practice test of National Exit Test (Next) will be free of cost. An order has been released for this.


Following protests from MBBS students across the country, the Union Health Ministry has asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) not to charge any fee for this exam. Earlier, NMC had fixed a fee of Rs 2,000 for appearing in this exam.


This exam will be conducted by Delhi AIIMS. Thereafter, from the next year onwards, NEXT will be applicable for final year MBBS students in the country. With this, the NEET exam for PG will end. The next practice exam will be conducted on 28 July.

It will be a computer based test consisting of multiple choice questions. The purpose of conducting practice test is to acquaint the prospective candidates with the process of computer based test, software interface and test centres. NMC has fixed a fee of Rs 2,000 each for general and OBC candidates and Rs 1,000 each for SC, ST and EWS candidates to appear in the practice test. This exam was kept free of cost for Divyang candidates. The Ministry has received many objections and complaints on this decision of NMC, on the basis of which the Ministry of Health advised to make the practice exam free of cost. NMC has said that the fee will be refunded to the students who apply by paying the fee. The date of refund of fee will be issued later.
