Latest Updated 20/07/2023: In the ongoing recruitment process through the Bihar Public Service Commission, candidates from other states will apply for about 16,000 posts only. The state government has given green signal to the application for the candidates from all the states in the appointment. But, it has also been clarified that only permanent residents of Bihar will get the benefit of any kind of reservation. The Chief Secretary had given information in this regard on 3 July.


In this regard, the officials of the Education Department inform that advertisements have been issued for the recruitment of one lakh, 70 thousand 461 posts. Of these, there are 79,943 posts of elementary teachers. In these 79,943, 60 percent seats are reserved for various caste groups, which are about 48 thousand. Of the remaining 32,000, 50 percent will be reserved for women. If seen in this way, only 16,000 candidates from other states will apply, which will be unreserved seats. Whereas, there are 32,916 and 57,602 seats for secondary and higher secondary respectively. For Secondary-Senior Secondary teachers it is necessary to qualify STET (Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test).

  • Candidates from outside Bihar have to apply in unreserved category 
  • STET is not held at other states and national level except Bihar


This exam is not held at the national level. There is only CTET at the national level, which is for classes one to eight, that is, for elementary teachers. In this way, candidates from outside the state who have passed in STET can participate in it. Departmental officials say that this number will be very less. There is 16 percent reservation for SC, 01 for ST, 18 for EBC, 12 for OBC, 10 for EWS and 03 for women in jobs in Bihar. 


Earlier 3400 candidates were reinstated


After 2012, an advertisement was issued for the appointment of about one lakh 68 thousand posts for teachers of various levels, in which candidates from outside Bihar were also free to apply. In this, 3400 candidates from other states were employed. Most of these are from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
