Latest Updated 08/06/2023: Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya said that now recruitment to technical posts in various departments will also be done through PRD. For this, Arya instructed the departmental officers to prepare rules as soon as possible.


Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Arya took a meeting of the officials of the PRD department in the Vidhansabha on Wednesday. During this, he said that the cabinet has approved the amendment in the PRD Act. In such a situation, the rules should be prepared soon and its GO should be issued. He asked the officials to complete the work of framing the rules within a month.

Rekha said, with the amendment in the PRD Act, now the state is going to have its own act. Under this, many facilities are being given to the PRD employees. Under the new PRD Act, pregnant women will get maternity leave. Along with this, PRD servants will now be able to serve for sixty years. Till now they were posted in security related works, but now they can be appointed on technical posts as well. The age limit of posting for PRD jawans is now being increased from 18 years to 42 years. Departmental officers including Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar, Director Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, Joint Director Ajay Agarwal etc. were present in the meeting.

168 players have been selected for sports hostels


95 boy and 67 girl players of the state were selected after the trials held at Sports College, Rudrapur. Out of these, 62 boys and 31 girls have been selected for the residential sports hostel. Apart from this, a total of 60 players have been selected in athletics, badminton, boxing, cricket, football, hockey, volleyball and judo in Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur. Sports Minister Rekha Arya has congratulated the successful players in the trials conducted for residential sports hostels and sports colleges. He hoped that all these players would bring laurels to Uttarakhand at the international level in future.
