Latest Updated 17/06/2023: Many secrets are beginning to be revealed in the ED's investigation regarding the land scam in Jharkhand. Investigation has revealed that the software of NIC was also tampered with for land forgery. Not only this, the investigating agency has found connivance of the employees of the revenue department, circle and registry office in the forgery of the land.
The case of sale of land by changing records in NIC software has also come to the fore in the state. In three zones in Dhanbad, land worth crores of Gairmajrua and CNT account was sold by tampering with the software. Dhurva police had arrested a young man last year for selling land by changing its nature online. He used to change the nature of the land by taking money from the land mafia. The CID had also found Manan Gope, Narendra Gupta guilty last year of trying to change the nature of the land and sell it by tampering with the NIC software.
At the same time, investigation is going on on the role of NIC officers and personnel. On the other hand, in the case related to Dhanbad, the then DC Umashankar Singh had caught the disturbance, after which a CID inquiry into the matter was recommended. Now all these cases are under the purview of ED investigation.

Many cases related to tearing of documents in the registry office in Ranchi were registered after 2013. Registry office personnel Ropana Oraon, Sabir Ansari and others were named in these cases. So far, more than 40 deeds have been found in the investigation of ED, where the registration of land was done by tampering or changing the documents.
Application was given for FIR in 2016 as well
On 17 May 2016, former registrar of Ranchi, Rahul Choubey had complained about tampering with the records by tearing pages 133, 134 of Book 1, Volume 6 of document 255 of the revenue records. Then the FIR was not registered in this case. Later, cases related to tampering of documents were registered in the registry office. In 2014, a former CO of Ranchi was also found guilty by the police in the case of falsification of papers and sale of land, although later the police gave him relief in the case. Almost half of the cases related to destruction of land records were registered in Kotwali police station.
