Trending News: One test will detect Covid, Flu and Respiratory disease
Latest Updated 05/06/2023: Right now many tests have to be done to detect the infection. Many days get wasted in this. But ICMR has developed such a test in which Kovid, Influenza and RSV (syncitis) can be tested.
According to Dr. Rajiv Behl, Director General of ICMR and Secretary, Department of Health Research, we have identified seven types of infections that occur frequently in people. A test will be developed to screen for each of the six or seven prevalent viruses or infections.
ICMR is going to invite proposals from research companies to develop tests for seven major infections called Sevan Syndrome. ICMR laboratories will provide them technical help in this.
Behl said that diseases like dengue, chikungunya, malaria etc. would be included in one test. The facility of single test is available abroad, but it is also expensive. The tests we develop will be cost-effective and timely treatment will be possible as soon as the disease is detected.
All the three tests will be done in Rs 250 only
According to Dr. Behl, ICMR's Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory has developed a test to detect three diseases. ICMR is using it for surveillance. Now a company is going to bring it to the market. This DNA based PCR test will have three probes. The cost of Covid test is Rs 250. Other tests are even more expensive. But now these three tests will be done for Rs 250.
