Sugar-salt will be available at half price in UK Uttarakhand latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 17/05/2023: 13.75 lakh families linked to the state's Antyodaya and National Food Security Scheme (NFSA) will be given two kg of sugar and one kg of salt with 50 per cent subsidy. The Food Department has prepared the subsidy formula for this scheme. It will be brought up in the upcoming cabinet meeting for approval.
While conducting a departmental review on Tuesday, Food Minister Rekha Arya instructed the officials to prepare a cabinet note for this scheme. Arya reviewed various schemes at the camp office located in Yamuna Colony.

Talking to media personnel after the meeting, Arya said that the government does not want to let there be shortage of food for every poor and needy family in the state. The central government has made free five kg of food grains per unit available under NFS. To complete the kitchen, now the state government is also going to provide sugar and salt at a subsidized price. Earlier, a scheme to provide three free gas cylinders in a year to Antyodaya families has been started.
Arya told that instructions have been given to solve the problem of biometric machines being faced by ration dealers and consumers. Along with this, good quality laptops and e-pos machines have also been asked to be installed. In the meeting, Secretary Food Brajesh Sant informed about the progress of departmental schemes. During this, Additional Commissioner PS Pangati, RMO CM Ghildiyal etc. were also present.
Dividend will be paid to the dealer as soon as the budget is received from the Center
The Food Minister also assured appropriate action regarding the dividend of the ration dealer. He said that the dividend of food grains given under NFSA is released from the level of the Central Government. Earlier, the state government had released funds from its own level. Now the Central Government is being requested to release the dividend at the earliest. The dividend after March 2023 will be released as soon as the budget comes from the Center.
Efforts are being made to provide basic necessities to every needy person of the state. After free gas cylinders, the subsidized sugar-salt scheme is being introduced. Going forward, other basic necessities of life will be delivered at subsidized prices.
