Latest Updated 30/05/2023: The department has notified the qualification regarding the appointment of about 7 thousand computer teachers. Those with BE-BTech will be able to become teachers in higher secondary schools. They will need a post graduation or diploma in any discipline with BE and B.Tech. But, B.Ed is not mandatory. Physics/Electronics/Computer/Chemistry/Statistics with Mathematics for class 9 to 10 at Graduation level OR Graduation in Engineering with specialization in Mathematics. At the same time, should have studied Zoology and Botany and Chemistry or graduate in engineering with science specialization. SC / ST, Extremely Backward and Backward Classes and Divyang will be given a relaxation of 5 marks in the minimum qualifying marks.
The Education Department has made a big change in the provision of teacher appointment. In the subjects in which Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) has not been taken in the year 2019 or after, the candidates who have passed STET and equivalent examination in those subjects will get relaxation of 10 years in the maximum age limit for teacher recruitment.

On Monday, the department issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification issued by Sanjay Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Department, provision related to age relaxation has been prescribed in Rule-5 (V) of the School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023. This decision will benefit a large number of candidates.

1.7 lakh teachers to be reinstated in the state from BPSC
This time 1 lakh 70 thousand 461 teachers are to be appointed from class 1 to 12. The Education Department has decided that there will be no compulsion of age limit for the employed teachers to appear in the examination. Employed teachers of any age can appear in this test.
