Latest Updated 10/05/2023: Former US President Donald Trump was found guilty by a New York local court on Tuesday of sexually assaulting an American columnist.
According to media reports, a jury in a New York local court ruled on Tuesday that former US President Donald Trump was responsible for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll, an American female columnist in the mid-90s. The nine members of the jury ruled that the former president did not rape E. Jean Carroll, but sexually assaulted her.
The report said Trump ordered Carroll to pay damages totaling $5 million. Carroll's age is now around 79 years while Trump is 76 years old.
The panel of six male and three female judges delivered the decision Tuesday in Manhattan federal court after deliberating less than three hours. Carroll accused Trump of raping her in the dressing room of a 5th Avenue department store in 1990s. He filed a lawsuit against Trump in New York court last year. The hearing on this started from 25 April. During the trial, Trump declined to testify in person & never joined in the courtroom.
Significantly, Donald Trump is the candidate from the Republic Party in the upcoming presidential election.
