There will be no change in Uttarakhand UK PCS Exam Syllabus latest news update 2023

Latest Updated 27/04/2023: There is good news for the candidates preparing for PCS exam. The state government has refused to change the syllabus on the lines of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Now the Uttarakhand Combined State (Civil) Senior Subordinate Services Examination will be held on the old pattern only. Additional Secretary Personnel Lalit Mohan Rayal has ordered this on Wednesday.

In February, the Public Service Commission had sent a proposal to the state government to change the pattern of PCS exam on the lines of UPSC. Commission's chairman Rakesh Kumar argued that this would increase the chances of the candidates of Uttarakhand to go to the All India Service and they would not have to prepare separately for two examinations. In March, the Personnel Department had also agreed in principle to this proposal, but the candidates came out in protest. The candidates said that changing the syllabus would harm the youth of Uttarakhand. BJP leader Ravindra Jugran was also continuously lobbying against it. He objected to this after meeting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi.

Sources said that when this file reached Chief Minister Dhami, he flatly refused to change the pattern of PCS exam. After this the Personnel Department had to issue this order. BJP leader Jugran says that with the implementation of UPSC pattern, the chances of selection of the candidates of Uttarakhand would have been even less than before. He said that most of the states had also rejected the UPSC pattern in the past. He thanked the Chief Minister for intervening in the matter.

The exam was proposed in July

Uttarakhand Public Service Commission had also released the calendar of PCS exam. The pre exam was proposed on July 2. However, the commission had sent back the recruitment proposal to the Department of Personnel to include reservation for disabled. This proposal has not been sent to the Commission afresh, due to which the possibility of conducting the examination in the month of July was very less.

One subject is optional in UPSC exam. Along with this, two subjects English and regional language are compulsory, in which it is necessary for the candidates to bring passing marks. In this, a provision was also made to fix syllabus quota on issues related to local issues. There is no optional subject in PCS exam. At the same time, there is a Hindi paper instead of English, in which the marks of the candidates are added to the merit. At the same time, at present, the percentage of questions related to local issues will not be determined.
