Latest Updated 16/04/2023: Now computer science will be taught in all engineering and polytechnics of the state. The Science and Technology Department has decided to implement this system from the new session this year. For this, the number of seats has been increased in all engineering and polytechnics of the state as per the requirement, which will benefit the students of the state.


Presently computer science was not being taught in all the engineering and polytechnic institutes of the state. Due to studying in selected institutes, all the interested students were not able to get computer science trade. In the recently held review meeting, it was decided that there is more interest among the students towards computer science as compared to other trades. Therefore, the study of this subject should be made compulsory in all institutions. In view of this, it was decided that if there is a need to increase the number of seats for this, then that should also be done. Apart from Computer Science, Mechatronics will also be taught in some institutes.

Under this strategy, the engineering and polytechnic institutes which had only 300 seats till now, were increased to 360. In this way, 60-60 seats were reserved for computer science in all the institutes. With this decision of the government, the number of seats in all the 38 engineering colleges of the state has increased to 13805 after increasing by three thousand seats. While the number of seats in 46 polytechnic institutes of the state increased by three thousand to 16 thousand 245.

Increased 342 seats for M.Tech


The department has increased the number of M-Tech seats for engineering students to pursue further studies. 342 M-Tech seats have been created in 12 engineering colleges of the state. With this, students studying or engineering students who have studied in previous years will be able to enroll in M-Tech. Enrollment on the increased seats will start from the new session this year itself.
