16 lakh backward class and very backward class students of 9th, 10th will get stipend by Bihar Government latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 29/03/2023: The way has been cleared for giving scholarship to the students of class 9th and 10th belonging to backward and extremely backward classes. The state government has released Rs 287 crore for their scholarship. The responsibility of distribution of scholarship has been entrusted to the Education Department. The department had recently approved the scholarship distribution scheme.
This scholarship will be paid for the year 2022-23 under the Chief Minister Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme. The direct benefit of this scholarship will be given to 15.94 lakh backward-very backward class students of the state. Under this, scholarship will be paid to students belonging to backward and very backward classes studying in class 9 to 10 in government, state-run, secondary schools of the state.
The Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Department has released an amount of Rs 287 crore 1 lakh for the Directorate of Secondary Education from the state plan head under aid and education to the Gram Panchayats. The department had given approval of 893.97 crores under the related scholarship scheme. Under this, this amount has been given. The scholarship will be paid through DBT in the bank account of the students.
Action will be taken if the certificate is not submitted on time
The Education Department is taking special vigilance regarding the utilization certificate of the scholarship amount. The utilization certificate has to be submitted within 18 months of the sanction of the amount. Strict action will be taken if the certificate is not submitted on time.
200 crore released in the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme
The state government has approved Rs 200.38 crore under the Chief Minister's Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Post-Entrance Scholarship Scheme 2023. This amount has been sanctioned by the Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Department. However, the scheme is to be operated through the education department. On Tuesday, the department has also informed the Accountant General about the payment of scholarship amount.
