Latest Updated 20/02/2023: The Tamil Nadu government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the validity of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Also alleged that the single common entrance test is a violation of the principle of federalism.
The petition, filed through advocate Amit Anand Tiwari, said that examinations like NEET take away the autonomy of states to take decisions regarding education. It also states that the validity of NEET was upheld by the apex court in 2020 on the grounds that granting admission on the basis of candidates' ability to pay fees, charging capitation fee, rampant malpractices, economic exploitation of students, profiteering And it is necessary to stop unfair activities like commercialization.
