Latest Updated 17/02/2023: The state government is working on a plan to open medical colleges in every district. In such a situation, in the next financial year 2023-2024 budget of Bihar, the announcement of opening of medical colleges in some more districts is expected to be fixed. Currently medical colleges are functioning in 10 districts of Bihar, construction is going on in 14 districts and there are no colleges in 14 districts.


There may be some more new announcements related to public interest in the general budget. The health department will lay emphasis on providing easy treatment to the common people in the government hospitals of the state. District and block hospitals will be strengthened so that people do not have to come to the capital or medical college for minor or major ailments. There is a preparation of about 10 percent budget increase to provide better health facilities to the people. The budget of the department in the current financial year 2022-23 is 16134 crore 39 lakh. It is likely to be more than 17.5 thousand crores. At present, the health department's share in the total budget of the Bihar government is 6.79 percent. There is a plan to bring it down to 7-8 per cent. Some health programs or new schemes can be announced in the budget. Work will be done on the development of medical education and promotion of research in the state. The second AIIMS in the state is to be opened in Darbhanga.

For this, 150 acres of land has been identified on the Ekmi-Shobhan bypass. Darbhanga District Magistrate has sent the proposal of marked land to the Divisional Commissioner. Soon there is a preparation to bring it in the cabinet through the Revenue Department. World's second largest hospital with 5462 beds is under construction at PMCH Patna. The construction of additional 1200 bed hospital building is going on at IGIMS Patna. Necessary funds for this will be arranged in the budget.

Construction of one additional primary health center as well as five sub-health centers and 136 community health centers is going on in all the assembly constituencies of the state. Necessary funds will be arranged for these in the budget. The recruitment process is going on in mission mode for the last three years. This will be continued further. Ambulance service will be made more modern. Positive initiatives can be announced through various mediums to reduce maternal mortality ratio, infant mortality rate and fertility rate and to promote vaccination.


Jeevika didis have been given the responsibility of cleaning the hospitals, providing clothes to the patients and cooking. It will be made effective. Under the Bal Hridaya Yojana, the facility of free treatment will continue for children suffering from congenital heart disease. E-Sanjeevani telemedicine service will be made more effective to provide medical facilities to the public sitting at home. Departmental efforts will continue to reduce the effect of filariasis, tuberculosis and anemia. For the treatment of incurable diseases, assistance will continue to be given to the people from the CM Medical Assistance Fund.
