Latest Updated 23/01/2023: Most of the students of Bihar used to aspire for admission in Patna University and other colleges of the capital, but today the seats are remaining vacant here. BA, BSC and BCom seats of postgraduate in universities and graduate in colleges are not being filled. Even the condition of UG and PG level vocational courses running under self finance is not good. It has also become difficult to fill seats in these courses. This situation ranges from the hundred-year-old Patna University to the Pataliputra University established 4 years ago, Aryabhatta Knowledge University and Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic Persian University. Due to poor quality of education, students are not willing to take admission in these institutions.

The condition of PU is also bad; Including all the colleges of Patna University, there are about four and a half thousand seats in graduation. About 7 to 8 hundred seats are vacant in these. Science College has 680 seats in graduation. Principal Prof. RK Mandal said that in the first session only 1500 students have taken admission. By the end of the session, the number remains 60 percent. Means the drop out continues till the completion of graduation. Same is the condition of Patna College. There are around 750 seats here, out of which around 200 are not filled. BN College has about one thousand seats including Arts and Science. Together, between two and three hundred seats are vacant. In Magadha Mahila College too, including all the three faculties, 100 seats have remained vacant.

The main reason for the delay in the session One of the major reasons for not filling the seats in the universities is the delay in the session of the universities. Also, examinations are not held on time and results are also delayed. Because of this, migration of good students has also started increasing in universities of other states. A three-year degree is available in four to five years.

More trends in some subjects In BA, B.Sc, the trend of students was more for some subjects. History, Geography, Political Science, Economics and English are the subjects of first choice for BA students. Seats are filled in these. Only after this students are enrolled in other subjects. The first choice of students in B.Sc is Maths, Physics and Chemistry. However, girl students are more inclined towards zoology. They choose other subjects only if they do not get admission in these subjects.

  • Students prepare for competitive exams by taking admission

30 thousand seats are vacant in PPU

Patliputra University has one lakh 25 thousand seats including graduate regular and vocational. About 95 thousand students have taken enrollment here. There are around 12 thousand seats in PG. Of these, only 8,000 students have been enrolled. Maulana Mazharul Arabic Farsi University offers PG education in 8 subjects. The situation here is even worse. Enrollment has been done only on 60 percent of the prescribed seats. There are three courses running in Aryabhatta Knowledge University. Nanotechnology, Geography and Mass Communication all three have got only 25 nominations. In some, only five or ten students have enrolled.

They enroll students in colleges but do not conduct classes. This is the condition of almost all the colleges of Patna. The attendance of the students has been made 75 percent only on paper. There is no compulsion, because of this students rarely reach college to attend classes. Apart from this, they are busy preparing for medical, engineering and other competitive exams. Many students come to the college only after registering to fill the examination form. Principal of many colleges said that like teachers, attendance of students should also be done through biometric system.
