1248 Mining Police will be reinstated in Mines and Geology Department of Bihar latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 20/01/2023: The Mines and Geology Department, which is busy forming its own police force to stop illegal mining, will appoint 1248 mining police. This includes constables and sub-inspectors. Mines will be under the Inspector of the Police Department and will keep a close watch on illegal sand mining. Retired police sub-inspectors will get opportunity in mining police.
The maximum age has been fixed at 65 years. The appointment will be for the first six months. They will be given extension if the service work is satisfactory. If the work is not satisfactory, their service will be terminated by giving one week's notice.
The need for mining police in Bihar was being felt for a long time. In the last three-four years, illegal activities have increased on the sand ghats and the activity of sand mafia has increased a lot. The local police administration has a big responsibility of law and order. In such a situation, there is a problem in taking continuous action regarding illegal mining.
The illegal mining activity stops for some time due to the action of the local police. But as soon as the police administration is removed, their business starts again. As a result of this, three to four years ago in Bihar, mining was done from sand ghats of 28 districts, which has reduced to 16 districts today.
