Latest Updated 20/11/2022: The engineering students of NIT Patna are staying away from studies in Hindi due to placement and study abroad concerns. Whereas under the new education policy, the government and institutions are serious about conducting engineering studies in regional languages. A year back, NIT Patna had given students the option of studying engineering in Hindi medium.
Despite being an institute of Hindi heartland, the students here do not want to study in Hindi. According to the information received from the institute, only five students took Hindi language as an option of studies. But later everyone left it and adopted English medium. In the induction program of the new session, students are being motivated to study in regional languages, but no benefit is being seen. NIT's Dean (Academic) Sanjeev Kumar Sinha told that students are doing this due to apprehension of linguistic complications in the placement process. In the new session, Director Prof. PK Jain is also motivating the students to adopt Hindi. Placement companies are also being advised to show leniency towards Hindi speaking students. The choice of language is still open for new students. There are chances of improvement in this session.

Hindi medium books and trained team are there in NIT
NIT Patna had made available Hindi language books related to engineering in the last session itself. Along with this, the teachers were also trained for this. The students were also made aware of the advantages of studying in regional languages. Experts say that only remarkable achievements of one or two students can motivate other students to adopt regional language or Hindi as an alternative.
