Latest Updated 26/07/2024: 1.60 lakh teachers will be appointed in the state. Education Minister Sunil Kumar made this announcement in the Assembly on Thursday. He said that the process of appointment will be started soon. He was speaking on the first supplementary budget in the House. 


10-10 schools will be renovated on the recommendation of every MLA


He said that the government has sought a list of 10-10 schools from all the MLAs. These schools will be renovated and facilities will be expanded here.


The minister said that in the course of studies of the students in the state, we want to make them more qualified and eligible for competitive examinations. For this, we will make the syllabus in line with the competitive examinations, so that the children can be prepared for a better future. Competency test is being conducted to give state status to the body teachers. Soon 85 thousand teachers will give the competency test. Apart from this, the facility of transfer will also be given to the sick, women, husband-wife teachers of the body. The minister said that there have been many changes in the education sector under the leadership of the Chief Minister. In 2006, the total number of teachers was 1.80 lakh.

Which has increased to 5.77 lakh in 2024. After the new appointments, it will become 7.37 lakh. Earlier there used to be one teacher for 65 children, today there is one teacher for 32 children. Today there are more than 74 thousand schools in the state. 1.80 crore children are studying in them. 1.10 crore children are being given mid-day meals.


More than 26 lakh students are studying in colleges. For qualitative improvement in education, 1.73 lakh teachers were appointed at one go. This is a record in itself.

Education budget is 52 thousand crores


The minister said that the education budget in the first supplementary is about Rs 10391 crore.
