The court has ordered the Bihar School Examination Board to allocate schools as per the options given by the students on the portal. Also, the state government has been asked to clarify the situation by filing a counter affidavit in six weeks.
A single bench of Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad heard the petition of two students Nidhi Kumari and Anmol Kumar on Thursday. Advocate Arun Kumar, on behalf of the students, told the court that the Director of Secondary Education has sent a letter to the Secretary of Bihar School Examination Board on May 8. It states that the students should be admitted to class 11 in the same school from where they have passed the class-10 examination. At the same time, the government lawyer said that when applications were sought for admission in the academic session 2024-2026, options were taken from the students. But, later the Education Department issued instructions so that the students do not have to travel long distances for studies.
