Latest Updated 28/06/2024: The Health Department has issued recruitment for 4500 Community Health Officers in Health Sub Centers and Health Wellness Centers. For this, B.Sc Nursing pass candidates can apply from 1 to 21 July.

The appointment will be on contract basis. 40 thousand rupees will be given including 32 thousand salary per month and 8 thousand rupees incentive. Details for filling the application are available on the State Health Committee's website shs.bihar.gov.in. Earlier, the State Health Committee had released the recruitment for this post on 9 March, but it was canceled on 12 March citing unavoidable reasons. Now there is no change in the vacancies of many categories in the ongoing recruitment.

Education Qualification
- Applicants must have a BSc. in Nursing or Post Basic BSc. (Nursing) degree, completing a 6 months integrated curriculum of CCH from the recognized institute or the university from 2020 ahead.
- Alternatively, completion of CCH through IGNOU or the other specified institutes is accepted.
Application Fee
- To apply for the recruitment as a CHO at the Health and Wellness Centre under the NHM, Bihar, a male applicant who belongs to UR, EWS, BC or EBC will have to pay required amount of 500 Rupees.
- Female candidates from any category, SC/ST male applicants will have to pay only 100 rupees using the one of the provided payment methods by the deadline of the fee submission.
Age limit
- The minimum age is required 21 years, the maximum age limit varies based on gender & category, ranging from 42 to 47 years as of 1 January 2024, check upper age limit information from below:
- UR(M) & EWS(M): 42 years
- UR(F) & EWS(F): 45 years
- BC & EBC (M & F): 45 years
- SC & ST (M & F): 47 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disability are eligible for the 10 years age relaxation, while departmental applicants may receive up to 5 years of age relaxation, provided they meet the minimum age eligibility requirements

Pay Scale/ Salary
This issue may arise again due to no vacancy in the unreserved category this time too. However, according to the department, the vacancies are as per the roster. All the posts in the unreserved category are already filled. These vacancies are of backlog. There is also a problem of 65 reservations in this recruitment. The Health Department will take further decision as per the instructions from the General Administration.
